I like to take Food Enzymes with every meal to make sure my food is properly being digested. Nutritionally, eating as much raw food as possible is best as they naturally have the enzymes needed to be well digested. Avoid hard to digest foods such as meat and dairy.
I had Declan's picture taken at one of those professional places at the mall a couple of years ago. I had received some kind of money off coupon and thought it might be fun (guess again, a mobile 8 month old with props, a camera and specific poses is not fun). I spent an hour after the photoshoot trying to avoid entering him into a galactic 'cutest kid in the universe' competition. They showed me the best picture they had taken and then proceeded to point out all his flaws - the little scratch on his nose, the pimple on his chin - before showing me the new and improved 8 month old Declan. Just a little pink on his cheeks, deepening the color of his brown eyes, whitening the teeth and erasing said scratch and pimple, and NOW he is ready for the competition.
Oh, come on! You cannot be serious! Who exactly would he be competing with if I did enter him? All the other fake babies I suppose.
There is a way to get gorgeous skin and it does not involved airbrushes, lasers, botox or surgery.
Skin Brushing
The skin has been referred to medically as 'the third kidney' as the chemical analysis of sweat is similar to urine (what a nice thought). If the skin is not able to effectively release toxins, the other eliminative organs have to work harder and eventually the toxins will be deposited in the tissue. Brushing the skin daily stimulates the circulatory system, removes dead skin cells and revitalizes the tissue under the skin allowing trapped toxins to be released properly through the bowels and kidneys, rather than the skin.
Cleansing
In the same way, if your bowels (the primary mode of passing toxins) are backed up and overworked, the other eliminative organs (kidneys, lungs and skin) have to step up because, one way or another, your body wants to get those toxins out. By the way, if you are having one bowel movement a day, consider yourself constipated. One meal in, one meal out is the general rule and bowel movements should be quick and easy.
So, to take the stress off our skin, we need to do some bowel and liver cleansing. I recommend a cleanse at least twice a year. I specifically like to target the liver as this is where toxins are 'managed'. Don't be surprised if your skin gets worse during the cleanse as the whole point is to eliminate toxins that are trapped.
Digestion
The next, and I believe most vital key, is addressing digestion. This is so foundational to every aspect of health that if you could only take one supplement, a digestive aid would be the one to take. After all, what's the point in taking a multi if you can't digest it?
Most of our bowel issues occur because the food we just ate wasn't properly digested. When that happens, our body is not able to access the nutrients needed to make us look and feel healthy, and our bowels get backed up so toxins are trapped inside ultimately making us sick.
HSN-W is a great supplement to take to make your hair, skin and nails strong and healthy if you feel that you need an extra boost.
Hydrated Bentonite (which I recommend having on hand at all times as it's great to take for vomiting diarrhea as well as topically for poison ivy) is great as a topical face mask. It softens and conditions the skin and draws out impurities in the skin.
